Privacy Policy
This policy covers Skillet & Sage: what the site collects when you read a recipe, what the advertising on it collects, and what you can do about either.
What the site itself collects
Reading a recipe does not require an account, and the site asks for nothing to let you read one. The web server records the ordinary request log — the address requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string, and an IP address — which is what makes it possible to serve pages, spot outages, and block abuse. Those logs are kept briefly and are not used to build a profile of you.
The ingredient checkboxes and the serving-size scaler run entirely in your browser. What you tick or rescale is never sent anywhere; it disappears when you close the tab.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a site or its partners store in your browser. Skillet & Sage sets one cookie of its own, and only if you ask for it: pressing the opt-out button further down stores your advertising choice for this browser. It holds nothing but that choice and is never used to identify or follow you.
Every other cookie you will find on these pages comes from the advertising described below, and your browser can refuse or delete all of them — the recipes keep working without them.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising served by third-party vendors, including Google. Those vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to limit how many times you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad worked.

- You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and read what Google collects as an advertising partner at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at Your Online Choices.
Opting out stops the personalisation, not the advertising: you will still see ads, they will simply be chosen without reference to your browsing.
Where consent is required
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, ads and the cookies behind them are only personalised after you have consented through the notice our advertising provider shows on your first visit. That notice comes from a consent management platform certified by Google, and it is what records your choice. You can change or withdraw the choice at any time from the same notice, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it was.
Your rights over your data
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal information about you is held, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use for advertising. Requests are answered within the period the applicable law allows, and exercising a right never costs you access to the site.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Sharing the information advertising vendors collect for cross-context behavioural advertising counts as a "sale" or "share" under California law and its equivalents in other states. You can direct this site to stop, and the choice is honoured for this browser without you having to identify yourself.
Two ways to do it:
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or extension. Every page on this site reads that signal on the server before it renders, and switches the advertising to non-personalised when it is present.
- Use the button below, which records the same choice in a cookie for this browser.
An opt-out applies to the browser you made it in. Clearing your cookies clears it too, so you will need to make it again after that, or on a different device.
Children
Skillet & Sage is written for adults cooking dinner and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them; if you believe a child has provided some, write to the address below and it will be deleted.
Links out
Recipes sometimes link to other sites. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's property, under their policy, and this one no longer applies.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects how your information is used is announced on the site rather than made quietly.
